Ranjit Roy appointed Head of Middle East

ANZ today announced the appointment of Ranjit Roy as Head of the Middle East reporting to Vishnu Shahaney, Head of South East Asia, India and the Middle East and Country Head Singapore.

Based in Dubai, Mr Roy will also continue in his current role as Head of Financial Institutions, Middle East, reporting to Mark Harding, Head of Financial Institutions, South East Asia, India and the Middle East.

 

ANZ Managing Director International, Simon Ireland, said: “Our Middle East presence plays an important role in helping our Institutional customers move goods and capital around the region.

 

“Ranjit’s deep knowledge of the Middle East and the Financial Institutions sector will be key as our customers look to navigate the global economy as it emerges from the pandemic.”

 

Mr. Roy has been with ANZ for 10 years and has been instrumental in building ANZ’s Financial Institutions business in the Middle East by growing relationships with sovereign entities, commercial banks, central banks and insurance companies.

 

Prior to ANZ, he held several senior roles in financial services including institutional client coverage, transaction banking, business consulting, treasury operations, consumer banking and expatriate banking services at global banks including HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, ABN AMRO and Royal Bank of Scotland.

 

Mr Roy replaces Rajesh Thapar following his retirement. His appointment is effective immediately.
