ANZ's Australian employees overwhelmingly accept new collective employment agreement

ANZ today announced it had reached an agreement with its Australian employees who voted almost unanimously in favour of extending the current collective employment agreement for another year.

More than 5800 employees cast a vote on the agreement with 94% endorsing the proposal to vary the ANZ Enterprise Agreement 2015-2016 and extend it for another year.

Commenting on the outcome, Group Executive Australia Fred Ohlsson said: “It’s great to see so many of our Australian employees had their say in this ballot and I’m really pleased the outcome was overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal.

“This agreement means we can appropriately reward our employees and ensure they have the right working conditions to keep meeting our customer’s needs.”

As part of the agreement, ANZ will pay 3% salary increases in 2017 for eligible employees and:

- Apply a 3% increase to salary range minimums and maximums

- Extend a flexi part time trial in the branch network for 150 employees

- Simplify the agreement by ending outdated ‘District Allowances’ that have applied to a limited range of remote locations. They will continue for employees who already work in these locations, but they will no longer apply to new employees

The new agreement covers about 20,000 employees in the Australian workforce and will take effect following approval from the Fair Work Commission from 13 October.
