ANZ upgrades Chinatown branch in Sydney CBD to serve local and international customers

ANZ today officially reopened its largest Australian branch in Sydney’s Chinatown after upgrading it to serve local and international customers from account openings to business lending.

Spread across five floors, ANZ’s Chinatown branch offers specialist services for business customers, home loan customers, the local Chinese community as well as providing a Private Banker and two international sales desks.

Commenting on the reopening, Managing Director Retail Distribution Catriona Noble said: “This branch provides a unique financial hub for local and international customers with business, personal and private banking services all under the one roof.

“Supporting small businesses is a key focus for us and creating a hub like this with specialists means our customers can access the services they need in a central location.

“Not only is this our largest branch in Australia, it is also the number one branch for helping new arrivals their banking needs. We have multi-lingual staff members and other specialists on hand to assist with everything from opening an account to establishing a business.”

Originally opened in 1921, the Chinatown branch on George Street was closed for 19 weeks this year for a significant upgrade.

The state-of-the-art financial hub now offers improved services and facilities, including two new ATMs operating 24/seven, three internal ATMs for assisted transactions with bankers, and facilities for customers to access specialists from Corporate and Commercial Banking and Wealth.

Staff members at the Chinatown branch speak a range of languages to help customers, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Korean, Malaysian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian and more.
