ANZ launches Introduction to Financial Markets seminars for women farmers in Australia

ANZ today announced the launch of a new nationwide education initiative for women farmers around Australia, designed to build awareness of financial markets and their impact on the agriculture sector.

The ‘Introduction to Financial Markets’ seminars will commence in Victoria, with the first events planned in Horsham on 4 June and Benalla in July. A program in Tasmania will be announced shortly, before a roll-out across other states later in the year.

The seminars will provide an overview of financial markets, with a special focus on interest rates, foreign exchange and soft commodities. This will include basic elements of risk management and financial products that can protect businesses from market volatility.

The initiative was launched at a ‘Leading Women’ event hosted by ANZ at Beef Australia in Rockhampton, addressed by Catherine Marriott (CEO, Influential Women), Josie Angus (Director, Angus Pastoral Co and Board Member, Trade and Investment Queensland) and Susan McDonald (CEO, Super Butcher).

Speaking at the event, ANZ General Manager of Regional Business Banking Tania Motton, said: “ANZ understands the changing landscape of business in Australia and the role women play in family businesses. We believe it is important that women have the knowledge and confidence around financial decisions, to help shape the financial future of the businesses they own and work in.”
