ANZ and Ingogo win Trailblazer Award for Initiative in Mobile Payments'

ANZ and Ingogo were last night awarded the Initiative in Mobile Payments Award at the 2014 Cards International & Electronic Payments International Asia Trailblazer Summit in Singapore for their mobile payments solution that enables passengers to book and pay for their taxi fare.

Launched in 2013, the mobile point-of-sale terminal connects to the drivers’ smart phone via bluetooth, allowing them to process physical or contactless card payments.

ANZ Managing Director Retail Products and Marketing, Matt Boss said: “Technology and mobile developments are driving change and innovation across all industries. Customers expect everything to be fast, secure and frictionless – including something as simple as paying for a taxi.

“This payment solution responds to these new needs – as this app allows passengers to book and pay for a taxi in one easy step on their phone.

“Together with Ingogo, we’re very pleased to be recognised by Trailblazer for our work in delivering an innovative taxi payment system in Australia. It shows that our investment in digital and mobile banking, as part of our Banking on Australia strategy, is paying off in both the consumer and business market,” Mr Boss said.

The Ingogo payment solution is on track to process more than $150 million over the next 12 months.
