ANZ appoints Sameer Sawhney Head of Global Banking, IIB

Mr Sawhney is currently Managing Director of Global Transaction Banking. Since joining ANZ in 2008, Mr Sawhney has held senior roles in institutional banking with coverage across Asia Pacific, Europe & America. Previously Mr Sawhney worked for Standard Chartered Bank in various wholesale banking roles in India, the Middle East, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

 

Mr Sawhney’s responsibilities will include providing our global clients with complex crossborder banking and capital markets services, as well as access to industry expertise to help grow their businesses.

 

Commenting on the appointment Mr Géczy said: “I am pleased to be able to appoint somebody of Sameer’s calibre to lead Global Banking for ANZ. His extensive experience will be an asset to our business as we work to build the most respected bank in the region.

 

“Sameer is a highly experienced executive who has worked across our key geographies, leading both coverage and product teams, gaining the depth of relevant global banking experience needed to deliver the right services to our customers,” Mr Géczy said.

 

Mr Sawhney’s appointment is effective immediately and he will remain based in Singapore.

 

Alan Huse, Head of Transaction Banking Sales Australia and New Zealand, has been appointed Acting Managing Director of Transaction Banking while a search for a permanent appointment is undertaken.
