ANZ provides AUD100,000 (PHP4m) to Philippines disaster relief

Published on 12 November 2013

ANZ today announced it will donate AUD100,000 (PHP4m) to the Red Cross in The Philippines to support recovery efforts following the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan.

ANZ CEO Asia Pacific, Gilles Planté said: “The images emerging from The Philippines have shocked the world and the sheer scale of the devastation will have a lasting impact on the region. Tragically, it appears Typhoon Haiyan has claimed thousands of lives with authorities now advising to expect the worst.”

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the people of The Philippines and we hope this donation will go some way in helping with the recovery and rebuilding efforts,” Mr Planté said.

In addition, staff across ANZ’s network have organised a series of fundraising activities to support the communities in the Southern provinces and staff based in Manila are also assisting the Manila Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross.

ANZ Philippines provides banking services to institutional and retail customers, as well as an operations centre in Manila with 1,500 people providing support services to ANZ’s network.
