ANZ appoints Bret Packard as MD Wealth Asia

ANZ today announced the appointment of Mr Bret Packard as the new Managing Director Wealth Asia, reporting to Joyce Phillips, ANZ’s Global CEO Wealth and Private Banking.

Based in Singapore, Mr Packard will have responsibility for leveraging ANZ’s investment, capabilities and resources in our Asian Wealth business and to take advantage of the significant growth opportunity across Asia.

 

Mr Packard brings to the role significant global expertise with over 24 years in senior banking and wealth management roles. Most recently, Mr Packard spent over five years with Barclays Bank where he was Managing Director, Southern Africa Region. He also held senior positions managing the Premier Banking and Liability Products business across 14 emerging markets, as well as in the United Kingdom. Prior to this, Mr Packard spent more than 19 years working in Wealth and Retail Banking at Citibank.

 

Commenting on his appointment Ms Phillips said: “With Asia forecast to be one of the fastest growing wealth management and private banking markets globally, Bret’s appointment is a significant one for ANZ that represents our commitment to strengthening our client services and position in this market.

 

“Bret will play a key role in working across ANZ’s markets in Asia to build a strong Wealth base in the region, while continuing to strengthen product development and governance, and enhancing customer insight and delivery,” Ms Phillips said.

 

Mr Packard commences with ANZ in mid-October 2012.
