Management Changes at ANZ

ANZ today announced the appointment of Graham Hodges as Acting Chief Executive Officer Australia following a decision by Brian Hartzer to leave ANZ to pursue his career in international banking. 

Mr Hodges recently commenced in the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer based in Melbourne having formerly been Managing Director, ANZ National Bank in New Zealand. Mr Hodges will act in the role until a replacement for Mr Hartzer is identified. 

 

Commenting on the change, ANZ Chief Executive Officer Mike Smith said: “Brian transformed ANZ into a retail banking force in Australia with leading levels of customer satisfaction and staff engagement, and a reinvigorated brand. I want to extend my personal thanks to him for his contribution to ANZ and wish him every success in his next role. 

 

“I am pleased to have Graham leading our largest division in this interim period. He is one of ANZ’s most experienced executives and most recently he has made a major contribution as Chief Executive Officer in New Zealand since 2006,” Mr Smith said. 

 

Mr Hodges’ appointment is effective immediately.
