ANZ wins ‘Best Australian Dollar Bank’ for the fourth year running

ANZ’s Foreign Exchange team won the ‘Best Australian Dollar Bank’ award at the FX Week 2008 Awards in London last night (18 November) for the fourth consecutive year, underlining ANZ’s global strength in foreign exchange trading and sales.

‘FX Week’, published in London since 1990, is the industry’s leading publication and the annual awards are considered a benchmark among market leaders. The poll of banks, corporate treasurers and investors has the industry’s greatest geographical survey scope.

ANZ Managing Director of Global Markets, Gilles Planté said: “FX is one of our strongest businesses worldwide and we are delighted to again be recognised in the top tier globally.

“Our FX team won this prestigious award through hard work and professionalism, generating a significant increase in earnings in the twelve months to September 30.

“In the current environment, where market volatility has reached unprecedented levels, this result is particularly pleasing,” Mr Planté said.

The FX Week award follows ANZ’s recognition as ‘Best Domestic Provider of FX Services’ for Australia in the Asiamoney FX Poll 2008, announced in August. ANZ also maintained a place in the top 10 global banks rated 'Best for Overall FX Services', in 2008 in the Asiamoney Poll and is the only Australian bank to feature in this category.

“With these awards we have a growing reputation as the premier foreign exchange bank in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region,” Mr Planté said.
